Apple Sauce

Ingredients
1) 8 medium apples, use a combination of Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Fuji, Gala, etc.
2) 1 strips of lemon peel
3) 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
4) 3 inch cinnamon stick or 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnnamon
5) 5 teaspoons light brown sugar, unpacked
Steps
1) Peel, core, and slice the apples.
2) Place them in the slow cooker.
3) Add the cinnamon stick, lemon peel, lemon juice and brown sugar.
4) Set crock pot to low and cook for 6 hours.
5) Stir apples occasionally, apples will slowly become a delicious applesauce.
6) Remove cinnamon stick and use an immersion blender to blend until smooth or if you prefer a chunky sauce, leave sauce intact.
Notes
1) Sugar can be left out for a sugar free recipe.
2) Homemade applesauce can be refrigerated for a week to ten days;
it can also be frozen or canned for longer-term storage.
